Why I'm Here

This begins as an attempt at self-improvement, not to mention the need for a bit of a spot of my own to just BE. As a mom of four beautiful blessings(who don't always ACT like blessings!) sometimes just the act of putting MY thoughts into writing has the amazing benefit of validating my own little existence in the universe--all by the grace of God. That said, I was tired of losing my thoughts scribbled on the backs of grocery lists(surely there's a scrapbook guru out there that's scrapped found grocery lists? I'm sure it would make an interesting piece of Americana Art!). Thus, the blog attempt.

My title comes from the exhortation of Paul the Apostle in Philippians chapter 4, verse 8: "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." I find that in the long days and short months of my job as a homeschooling mom and wife, it can be all-too-easy to focus on the difficult, the filthy, the messed-up, scattered, frazzled and generally tiring, never-ending nature of things. This instruction from Holy Scripture CONTINUALLY redirects my focus. I have the greatest job in the world. God has a plan for ME. He has given me these children and this house and a wonderful man to "help meet" his goals and needs in this life--I hope the opportunity to write about the ongoings here helps me to seek Him just a little more diligently, and to be more thankful.
